Linde already has a method on the market to recycle CO2 in the agricultural industry.

With this solution, Dutch greenhouse operators previously used gas furnaces even in summer to increase productivity with CO2-rich flue gas, even in the summer. The emissions released from this process ultimately contribute to the greenhouse effect and global climate change.

Supported by Linde’s Dutch subsidiary, Hoek Loos, two engineers from the Netherlands launched OCAP (“Organic CO2 for Assimilation by Plants”), a project to supply greenhouses with CO2 from a nearby refinery instead.

This bright idea has major benefits not only for the environment, but also for the refineries and greenhouses.

The diverted CO2 from the crude oil refinery no longer escapes into the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas, making it a more environmentally friendly company, well-suited to compete in the green marketplace.

Greenhouse operators see the benefits of supplemental CO2, namely faster growth and greater productivity, while keeping a clean conscience as they make use of what would otherwise be a harmful byproduct.
