FPSO stands for Floating Production, Storage and Offloading units.
These floating platforms open up natural gas reserves in coastal waters or far out at sea where pipeline transport is not feasible.
Linde has formed a technology alliance with Dutch company SBM Offshore NV in order to liquefy, store and offload natural gas on FPSO units.
Linde’s Engineering Division aims to have the first floating unit up and running by 2012.
