Cryostar, a member of The Linde Group and leading outfitter of LNG tankers, has been contracted to supply the onboard boil-off gas reliquefaction facilities.

Plants for the on-board liquefaction of boil-off gas are currently under construction for several LNG tankers. With a cargo capacity of 265,000 cubic metres, these modern membrane carriers will be the largest ever built and are destined to transport LNG between Qatar and the USA.

Boil-off gas management becomes increasingly important as vessel capacity increases, since it is an effective method for ensuring that the maximum amount of LNG, stored on board at –163°C, reaches its port of destination.
