As part of the former BOC Group, Gist was founded back in 1970 under the name The BOC Distribution Services Business. Leveraging its cryogenic know-how (liquid nitrogen), it initially concentrated above all on transport solutions for frozen goods.

In 2001, the company was renamed Gist and established as a more independent line of business within the Group.

Today, Gist is a leading provider of logistics services and supply chain solutions, with the hub of its operations mainly in the UK.

Following the acquisition in 2005 of the Dutch temperature-controlled transport specialist G. van Dongen Holding BV with its European footprint, Gist has extended its reach to the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France and Portugal. It has also expanded its range with new services in Poland, the Czech Republic, Australia and the Philippines.

It is positioned as the partner of choice for customers from numerous branches of trade and industry, including Marks & Spencer, Britain’s largest retail chain with 450 outlets.

Marks & Spencer has been relying on Gist’s services for over 30 years. Other well-known customers include Woolworths, Ocado, British Airways, Budgens and Intergreen.
