LIVOPAN™, another gas from our therapeutic gases portfolio, has already proven its worth in the treatment of children.
The gas mixture consists of nitrous oxide or laughing gas (N2O) and oxygen (O2) in equal parts. Its analgesic and sedative qualities make it ideal for use in paediatric medicine. Some procedures that utilize LIVOPAN™ include injections or lumbar punctures, outpatient surgery and suturing wounds.
Testimonials from children, parents and medical staff confirm the positive impact of LIVOPAN™.
Cluster headache is another condition where oxygen serves as a viable treatment. Also known as “suicide headaches” due to the severity of the pain, cluster headaches occur as attacks that last 15 to 180 minutes if untreated.
Men between 20 and 50 years of age are particularly susceptible to cluster headaches. Recent tests show that many patients experience significant pain relief within 15 minutes of the onset of an attack when treated with high-flow oxygen.
The “high” refers to the rate at which oxygen is delivered. In addition to standard flow regulators, special regulators are available for low (low-flow) or particularly high (high-flow) oxygen requirements.
The Linde Group is committed to taking a lead role in the ongoing research and treatment of this condition, harnessing our wide-ranging expertise in oxygen therapy.
We offer training for doctors on the safe administration of oxygen, for instance, and have already launched our own cluster-headache website in Austria (www.clusterkopfschmerz.at). Services on this site include a listing of doctors specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of this ailment.
