The scope of our environmental management also includes assessing potential impacts of our business activity on biodiversity.
Most of our sites are located in industrial or urban areas. We use standardised methods to investigate possible effects on the environment in the construction of new sites. In the process, we also comply ourselves with internationally recognised guidelines, such as the United Nation's Voluntary Guidelines on Biodiversity-Inclusive Impact Assessment. If protected areas or other sensitive habitats are situated in the immediate vicinity of our sites, we strive to limit possible negative impacts on these areas, for example by implementing noise-reduction measures.
We continuously improve our production processes. Among other things, we strive to reduce emissions to air and to water, and to avoid waste. This is why, for example, between 2008 and 2012 we implemented 1,000 projects to protect the environment.
Various Linde products and technologies pave the way for our customers to use natural resources more efficiently - as well as to reduce their impact on the environment.
Environmental initiatives in the context of social commitment
We support environmental protection in our projects through a range of local initiatives.
